Pownal, Vt. — September 23 — Firefighters from the Pownal Fire Department and Pownal Valley Fire Department conducted a joint training exercise simulating a motor vehicle crash approximately 150 feet over an embankment.
The scenario focused on vehicle extrication, rope systems, and patient removal techniques on a steep incline. Crews worked together to stabilize the vehicle, secure the scene, and safely move the simulated patient up the slope.
Training officers said the drill helped strengthen teamwork, reinforce safety procedures, and maintain readiness for real-world incidents involving challenging terrain and rescue conditions.
