Manchester, Vt. — September 8 — Manchester Fire Department members conducted a hose deployment drill, laying out and charging 1,400 feet of 4-inch supply line from Engine 5 using a hydrant feed.
The exercise focused on improving efficiency in long-line water supply operations, an essential skill for incidents requiring extended hose stretches or rural water movement. After completing the evolution, firefighters drained and repacked the hose, ensuring it was ready for the next call.
Department officials said the training provided valuable hands-on experience in managing large-diameter hose operations and reinforced teamwork among responding crews.
