Brush 3 Advances Hose Line Through Residential Yard to Contain Spreading Field Fire

Boalsburg, PA - Volunteer firefighters from the Boalsburg Fire Company and multiple regional mutual aid departments converged on a fast-spreading agricultural and machinery fire late Thursday afternoon along Trout Road in College Township, Centre County.

At 4:09 p.m. on October 8, 2026, emergency units were dispatched to Box 533 at 903 Trout Road following reports of a large machinery fire involving a hay baler that had ignited and begun spreading rapidly into an adjacent open field.

Recognizing the threat of extending brush and field fire, dispatchers requested Boalsburg's Brush 3 and Tanker 3 to the scene. Operating under a split-access strategy to surround the blaze, Tanker 3 accessed the burning acreage directly from Trout Road, while Brush 3 navigated around to Buchenhorst Drive. Positioned in the backyard of a residential property bordering the open land, the crew of Brush 3 advanced an attack hose line into the brush to head off the advancing flames.

Tanker 8 established an ongoing water shuttle and supply operation, feeding Brush 3 throughout the suppression efforts. Firefighters from multiple departments across Centre County worked in coordination to knock down the equipment flames, extinguish the burning field, and establish wet perimeters to prevent rekindling.
