Clearfield, PA - Volunteer crews from the Clearfield Fire Department (Company 1) established major highway closures and traffic diversion points along Interstate 80 Westbound on Thursday morning to support emergency operations at a severe vehicle collision in Clearfield County.
On October 8, 2026, Engine 1 and Utility 1 deployed to Interstate 80 to manage widespread roadway shutdowns on behalf of Company 5, whose crews were actively operating at the scene of a major motor vehicle accident near westbound mile marker 110.
To safeguard responders and allow emergency apparatus to operate unimpeded on the highway corridor, Company 1 personnel completely halted westbound interstate traffic, shutting down the route at the Exit 120 interchange while additional closures were enacted downstream at Exit 111.
Firefighters maintained the multi-exit perimeter until the initial emergency response stabilized. By 10:15 a.m., Company 1 units successfully reopened the Exit 120 westbound ramp and returned apparatus to service, though the westbound corridor at Exit 111 remained closed as scene cleanup, investigation, and recovery efforts continued.
