Baltic, October 7 — CT: The Baltic Fire Department was called to a "mental disorder" call involving a woman who had been pulled from a river at approximately 18:59 on the evening of September 17. When emergency personnel arrived, they treated the patient before taking them to the hospital. The department discovered after the response that Ariel Stavens was the first to spot the woman in the water and notify her mother, Rose Stavens. After that, Rose intervened, dragged the woman out of the river, and remained by her side, providing consolation, until help arrived. At their October 7 membership meeting, Baltic Fire Engine Co. #1 formally recognized the lifesaving actions of Rose and Ariel Stavens. They were presented with the Baltic Fire Department Life-Saving Certificate in appreciation of their timely, selfless efforts.
