Naugatuck, CT - The Norwich Fire Department is proud to recognize Firefighter Josh McFarland, a valued member of C Shift assigned to Engine 5 at the Eastside Station, as he prepares to deploy with the Connecticut National Guard’s 102nd Infantry for approximately 10 months.

Firefighter McFarland has been a dedicated member of the NFD for the past three years and, to the department’s knowledge, is the first firefighter in more than 60 years to be called to active military duty.

The Norwich Fire Department extends its deepest gratitude to Firefighter McFarland for his unwavering commitment and service—both to the community and to the nation. The department wishes him a safe deployment and eagerly awaits his return once his mission is complete.
