Pittsburgh, PA - An early-morning vehicle rollover along Route 28 Southbound prompted a multi-company emergency rescue response on Sunday in Allegheny County, leaving one car resting on its roof and resulting in minor injuries.
At approximately 2:30 a.m. on October 4, 2026, emergency dispatchers initially alerted Rescue 260 (Cherry City Volunteer Fire Company) and Rescue 191 to a reported motor vehicle crash with unknown injuries on Route 28 Southbound, just prior to Exit 3B. As units responded, updated calls into the 911 communications center indicated that a vehicle had overturned, triggering an escalated assignment that added Rescue 149 and Rescue 259 to the response.
Rescue 260 arrived first on the highway scene to discover a single vehicle overturned and resting completely on its roof across the roadway. Responders confirmed that although the vehicle suffered substantial damage, there was no entrapment inside the passenger compartment.
Crews immediately checked on the vehicle's occupants, who sustained minor injuries, and provided scene stabilization, hazard mitigation, and traffic protection along the high-speed roadway while medical and towing services managed the scene.
