Portland, ME - Firefighters from Rescue 1, Ladder 1, Engine 5, Engine 11, Medcu 1, and Medcu 6 participated in water rescue training at East End Beach.

The exercise focused on several critical aspects of water rescue operations, including shoreline rescues using throw bags, boat-based rescue techniques, and the deployment of a rescue swimmer from shore using a tag line.

With Portland’s extensive coastline and active waterfront, ongoing training ensures that fire department personnel remain fully prepared to respond to water-related emergencies. Through these efforts, the Portland Fire Department continues to uphold its commitment to protecting both residents and visitors of the City of Portland, Maine.
