On October 6, 2026, the FDNY kicked off National Fire Prevention Week at Rockefeller Center. The FDNY swore in 190 junior Firefighters and Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs). The junior Firefighters and EMTs pledged an oath reminding children to practice fire safety and share it with their family and friends. Students will have the opportunity to interact and view demonstrations with FDNY members. Each year, the FDNY, supported by the FDNY Foundation, runs outreach programs to educate New Yorkers by promoting safe fire and life safety practices at thousands of locations and events throughout the five boroughs
