Oxford, PA - Volunteer firefighters from Union Fire Company No. 1 of Oxford, Pennsylvania, crossed state lines early Saturday evening to assist Maryland responders in combating a residential structural fire on Brick Hill Road in Cecil County.
At 6:27 p.m. on September 19, 2026, emergency dispatchers summoned the Chester County-based department to assist Singerly Fire Company at a reported house fire in the unit block of Brick Hill Road, located in the Fair Hill community of Cecil County, Maryland. Initial emergency personnel arriving on scene confirmed an active incident, observing smoke pushing from the roofline of the home.
Ladder 21 arrived on location as the first-due truck company and immediately initiated essential fireground support operations. Firefighters thrown into the assignment placed ground ladders against the structure to secure access and egress, systematically opened up interior walls and ceilings to check for concealed fire spread, and coordinated ventilation to relieve heat and smoke buildup inside the residence.
Engine 211 and Tanker 21 also turned out from the Oxford station to bolster water supply and manpower resources in Cecil County. The crew from Ladder 21 operated on the fireground for roughly one hour, completing overhaul and ventilation assignments alongside regional mutual aid partners before returning to Pennsylvania quarters.
