Clearfield, PA - Volunteer emergency responders from the Clearfield Fire Department joined neighboring mutual aid units Monday evening to rapidly cut free a motorist trapped inside an overturned vehicle along 104th Cavalry Road, all while managing concurrent emergency calls across their primary coverage area.
At approximately 6:45 p.m. on September 14, 2026, the Clearfield Fire Department's Engine Company was dispatched to assist Lawrence Township Volunteer Fire Company (Company 6) with a severe motor vehicle collision involving entrapment on 104th Cavalry Road in Lawrence Township. Chief 6 arrived within minutes of the alert, confirming an overturned automobile resting off the roadway with one individual pinned inside the wreckage.
Crews from Engine-Tanker 6 and Clearfield Engine 1 quickly mobilized rescue and stabilization equipment upon arrival. Firefighters worked in coordinated teams to secure the unstable vehicle, establish a safe working area, and execute a rapid extrication, safely removing the trapped occupant from the compromised vehicle cabin. Once freed, the patient was immediately handed over to paramedics and EMTs from Clearfield EMS for medical evaluation and transport.
Engine 1 operated on the highway scene for approximately one hour, providing scene lighting, fluid mitigation, and traffic support until the vehicle was recovered. During the ongoing extrication operation in Lawrence Township, Clearfield's Quick Response Service (QRS) unit handled a simultaneous call for service, turning out to provide urgent emergency care during a medical incident on the west side of Clearfield Borough.
