— September 19, 2026 — Early Saturday, firefighters from multiple Delaware County departments responded to a residential fire that started in an attached garage and spread into the house.

South Media Fire Company and Garden City Fire Company, collectively forming the Nether Providence Township Fire Department, managed the initial response. The Aston Township Fire Department was called out just before 5 a.m. as a Rapid Intervention Team ( RIT) to support the crews working at the fire.

Squad 17 from Aston Township was dispatched to handle the assignment. By the time the squad arrived, police were already on the scene and reported a confirmed working fire that had spread from the attached garage into the house.

Squad 17 arrived on the scene as the RIT and was promptly assigned to operations. While firefighters kept up with suppression and search efforts, the crew worked on the first and second floors.

Command brought the fire under control, and Squad 17 was eventually withdrawn from the scene.
