Meadville, Pa. — September 11, 2026 — On Friday, firefighters, first responders, and local residents came together at the Crawford County Fairgrounds for the annual 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb to pay tribute to the firefighters who lost their lives while responding to the September 11, 2001 attacks.
Participants in the memorial climb had two chances to join, at 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. The event took place at the Crawford County Fairgrounds in Meadville and featured a simulated climb of 110 floors, symbolizing the height of the World Trade Center towers.
The event was arranged with involvement from fire departments throughout Crawford County. It was a community memorial rather than an emergency response, so no first-arriving department or mutual-aid assignment was involved.
After the event, Meadville Firefighters IAFF Local 515 reported that participants and supporters collected $710 for the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation.
