Third Alarm Brings Tanker Response to Blooming Valley Equipment-Shed Fire

This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

— September 9, 2026 — On Wednesday evening, firefighters responded to a major blaze at an equipment shed after members of the Blooming Valley Volunteer Fire Department were notified just after 8 p.m.

Members had completed their Wednesday evening training drill just as the department was called to the reported barn fire. Eleven firefighters from Blooming Valley responded.

When crews arrived, they found a roughly 40-by-150- foot equipment shed completely engulfed in flames. Chief 2 took command and called for a third alarm to bring in more tanker support.  West Mead #2 Volunteer Fire Department was among the mutual-aid departments that responded. Its crews established a tanker dump system to help maintain the water supply while firefighters worked at the scene. Additional firefighters from the responding agencies also provided manpower. The fire involved an equipment shed rather than a residential structure, and the available department information does not report any injuries, damage to nearby buildings or the cause of the fire.
