Homer, N.Y. — September 27, 2026 — A pickup truck collision damaged utility poles and led to a temporary closure of Route 281 in the Village of Homer on Sunday afternoon.
Around 2:10 p.m., The Homer Fire Department, Homer Police Department, and TLC Ambulance responded to the intersection of Northwest Street, Route 281, and King Street for a reported vehicle collision with a utility pole.
First responders discovered a pickup truck overturned beside a tree, with two power poles lying broken in half. The damage caused a short power outage in the village, prompting National Grid to be dispatched to repair the affected electrical infrastructure.
