Boalsburg, PA - Firefighters swiftly contained a working appliance fire inside a multi-story apartment complex along East Beaver Avenue on Friday night, deploying high-powered ventilation fans to clear smoke from the building's upper corridors before flames could spread.
At 8:01 p.m. on Friday, September 25, 2026, emergency dispatchers transmitted Box 512, mobilizing fire suppression units to the Cedarbrook Apartments at 320 East Beaver Avenue in State College for a reported building fire. Chief 55 (Kauffman) assumed incident command of the multi-company response.
Boalsburg Fire Company's Engine/Rescue 3 arrived first on location as the lead engine company. Crews entered the building to investigate and located an active fire isolated within a clothes dryer on the third floor. Firefighters acted quickly to disconnect the appliance's electrical power source and suppress the immediate danger, successfully preventing the fire from extending into the structure's interior walls or neighboring units.
Due to smoke migration through the third-floor hallway, command requested dedicated ventilation support. Crews from Engine/Rescue 42 (Eastside), operating as Engine 5, joined personnel from Truck 5 to position positive-pressure fans, opening airflow channels to systematically exhaust smoke and toxic combustion gases from the residential floors.
