Boalsburg, PA - Emergency responders from the Boalsburg Fire Company mobilized late Saturday afternoon to establish a secure helicopter landing zone at Nittany View Park, assisting regional paramedics with the urgent air evacuation of a critically ill or injured patient.
At 5:07 p.m. on September 19, 2026, emergency dispatchers transmitted Box 351, alerting the department to the area of 137 East Pine Tree Avenue in Harris Township to prepare for an incoming aeromedical transport. Captain 3-2 (Yoder) assumed incident command and directed the ground operation.
Engine/Rescue 3 and Utility 3 turned out to the park grounds, where volunteer crews quickly went to work evaluating the terrain, monitoring wind conditions, and clearing the ballfields and open spaces of potential hazards. Responders secured a wide safety perimeter around the designated touchdown area to safeguard nearby park visitors and ensure an unobstructed approach for the incoming flight crew.
