Penn Forest TWP, PA - Volunteer firefighters deployed suppression and truck company apparatus to Eliot Lane on Sunday, responding to reports of an active residential gas leak inside a neighborhood dwelling.

Operating under incident dispatch number 2026-217 on October 4, 2026, Penn Forest Township Volunteer Fire Company 2 was dispatched alongside mutual aid personnel from District 12 to investigate the potential hazmat condition. Engine 2210 and Ladder 2222 responded to the address.

Upon arrival, fire personnel established a safe perimeter, controlled ignition sources in the immediate area, and deployed atmospheric monitoring meters to detect explosive or combustible gas concentrations within the structure. Crews located the source of the leak, secured the supply shutoff, and used forced-air ventilation equipment to flush lingering vapors from the living spaces.

Once interior gas readings returned to normal atmospheric levels and the residence was confirmed safe, fire units stood down and cleared the scene.
