Penn Forest TWP, PA - Firefighters and utility personnel worked to mitigate live electrical hazards and clear vehicular wreckage Saturday after an automobile crashed into and severed a wooden utility pole along Old Stage Road.

Operating under incident run number 2026-215 on October 3, 2026, Penn Forest Township Volunteer Fire Company 2 was dispatched to Old Stage Road, just north of McKuen Way, following reports of a severe motor vehicle crash involving electrical infrastructure. Engine 2210 and Rescue 2255 turned out to secure the scene.

Emergency crews arrived to discover a vehicle collision that had cleanly sheared a roadside utility pole, leaving structural damage, displaced transformers, and sagging or downed utility wires spanning the roadway. Responders immediately isolated the perimeter, establishing safety zones to prevent oncoming traffic and pedestrians from encroaching on potentially energized high-voltage lines.

Firefighters stabilized the vehicle, monitored for fluid leaks or thermal issues, and assisted clinicians from Lehighton Ambulance Association Advanced Life Support (ALS) on scene. Pennsylvania Power and Light (PPL) crews were dispatched to isolate electrical feeds, de-energize the damaged line, and initiate heavy pole-replacement operations.

Troopers from the Pennsylvania State Police Fern Ridge barracks conducted traffic control and investigated the circumstances surrounding the collision. Fire crews remained on site until electrical risks were neutralized and the roadway could be safely turned over to repair teams and towing operators.
