Penn Forest TWP, PA - Volunteer firefighters deployed multiple emergency rigs and coordinated an aeromedical helicopter landing zone on Friday, supporting paramedic crews with the urgent evacuation of a critical patient from Penn Forest Drive.

Operating under incident dispatch number 2026-214 on October 2, 2026, Penn Forest Township Volunteer Fire Company 2 was called out to assist Lehighton Ambulance Association Advanced Life Support (ALS) personnel during a severe medical emergency. Ladder 2222, Brush 2244, and Rescue 2255 responded to the residential scene.

As fire personnel assisted paramedics with intensive on-scene patient stabilization and packaging, the severity of the patient's condition prompted medical command to request rapid air transport. Geisinger LifeFlight 6 accepted the mission and dispatched an aeromedical helicopter to the area.

Fire crews split operational assignments, maintaining manpower at the patient's side while additional responders mobilized to establish a designated landing zone at the nearby Seneca Pool complex. Firefighters illuminated the landing area, assessed overhead obstructions, monitored wind conditions, and fully secured the perimeter as LifeFlight 6 touched down.

The patient was transferred from the ground ambulance directly into the aircraft and flown to a regional trauma and tertiary care facility for advanced medical intervention. Following the departure of the flight crew, responding apparatus secured the landing zone and cleared the scene to return to service.
