Penn Forest TWP, PA - A catastrophic motor vehicle collision claimed at least one life Friday afternoon at the intersection of State Route 903 and Church Road, prompting a prolonged multi-agency emergency response and highway closure.
Operating under incident run number 2026-199 on September 18, 2026, Penn Forest Township Volunteer Fire Company 2 was dispatched to the rural intersection for a serious motor vehicle crash. The department turned out with an extensive fleet of emergency apparatus, including Engine 2210, Tanker 2233, Brush 2244, and Rescue 2255.
Upon arrival, first responders encountered heavy wreckage requiring immediate scene stabilization and traffic isolation. Firefighters worked in conjunction with District 12 units to secure the vehicles, mitigate hazardous fluids, and establish a wide perimeter to shield the scene from oncoming highway traffic.
Paramedic units from Lehighton Ambulance Association Advanced Life Support (ALS) evaluated the involved individuals, but life-saving measures were ultimately unsuccessful, prompting officials to request the Carbon County Coroner’s Office to the scene.
