Manchester, Conn. — September 12 — The Manchester Fire Department hosted its annual Government Academy, offering residents a firsthand look at the department’s operations and emergency response capabilities.
Participants engaged in a series of hands-on activities, including flowing handlines, operating fire extinguishers, and working alongside engine and ladder company crews. The session also highlighted the department’s Advanced Life Support (ALS) services, giving attendees a better understanding of the lifesaving care provided by firefighter-paramedics.
Department leaders said the program aims to build stronger connections between firefighters and the community, showcasing the skills, teamwork, and equipment used in daily emergency response.
