South Windsor, Conn. — September 23 —The South Windsor Fire Department (SWFD) completed its annual hose and ladder testing this week to maintain compliance with National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) standards.

These annual tests, required by NFPA 1962 for hoses, NFPA 1932 for ground ladders, and NFPA 1911 for aerial ladders, are critical to ensure the reliability, safety, and readiness of fireground equipment. Inspections included pressure testing of hoses to confirm they hold water without failing, as well as load and bend tests on ladders to verify structural strength.

Maintaining accurate testing records supports the department’s ISO rating and enhances community safety. The department extended thanks to Lt. Gioux for his leadership in overseeing this project.
