South Windsor, CT. — September 23 — Emergency crews responded late Tuesday night to a wrong-way crash on I-291 Westbound that left one driver injured and a major traffic disruption.

According to officials, the wrong-way driver entered I-291 in Windsor, traveling east in the westbound lanes across the Connecticut River into South Windsor. The driver reportedly struck at least one vehicle, causing it to roll over, and a third car was also involved before the suspect’s vehicle came to rest in the median.

The driver of the overturned car was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The wrong-way driver fled on foot and the incident remains under investigation by the Connecticut State Police.
