Hinsdale Crew Investigates Smoke Condition Near Carrier Circle

Hinsdale, N.Y. — September 29 —The Hinsdale Volunteer Fire Department was called to help the DeWitt Fire District put out a big outdoor fire at the Metalico scrap yard on Thompson Road at 7:01 a.m. on Monday. After responding with a five-person crew, Engine 8 first staged close by with another engine crew. Onondaga County 911 notified DeWitt command of a significant smoke situation close to the Carrier Circle Business Park while the scene was in staging. After being reassigned to investigate, Engine 8 was found to be involved in the same incident. Hinsdale's crew was eventually released and sent back to their district after assisting with operations at the fire scene.
