On 20 September 2025 around 1 p.m., East Burke and West Burke Fire Departments were dispatched to a report of a paraglider who had collided with a tree and become entrapped. The first responding officer contacted Burke Mountain officials to gather additional details. Based on the information provided, Assistant Chief Hinman requested the Lyndonville Fire Department Technical Rescue Team.

Upon the arrival of the first apparatus and an assessment of the true height and location of the subject, Chief Willey determined that the incident was beyond local capabilities to safely manage. Stowe Mountain Rescue was subsequently requested.

While crews on scene evaluated potential rescue scenarios and monitored the subject for injuries, access was successfully gained via an alternate road with Ladder 7. Once in position, the Ladder 7 crew secured the subject and safely removed them from the tree without further injury.

Acknowledgment is extended to Lyndon Rescue Inc., St. Johnsbury Emergency Dispatch, and the Burke Mountain Bike Patrol for their assistance throughout the incident.
