September 15, 2025 On a bright and clear afternoon, the Bedford Fire Department’s Shift 2 took advantage of the favorable weather to conduct an aerial training exercise with Tower 1.
The training coincided with the annual fire drill at a local residential building, creating a unique opportunity for both firefighters and residents. While the building’s occupants practiced their evacuation procedures, the operations team worked on refining their Tower 1 aerial setup and apparatus placement.
“This type of exercise is invaluable,” the department shared. “It allows our crews to practice critical positioning and deployment while also giving residents the chance to connect with their firefighters in a real-world scenario.”
Residents were able to meet the team, observe the ladder truck in action, and gain a better understanding of how the fire department responds in emergencies. The combined drill not only enhanced firefighter readiness but also strengthened the bond between the department and the community.
