Oct. 4, 2025 — Amherst Fire Rescue proudly recognized Kaitlin, Alex, and Tabitha this week as the department’s newest certified Paramedics.

Becoming a paramedic is no small achievement — the certification requires more than 1,200 hours of classroom instruction and clinical training, often spanning over a year. The rigorous program prepares providers to deliver advanced life-saving care in complex and high-stress situations.

“These three have shown incredible commitment and perseverance,” the department said in a statement. “We are truly fortunate to have such skilled and dedicated providers as part of our team.”

Their addition strengthens the department’s ability to deliver advanced pre-hospital medical care to the Amherst community, ensuring residents continue to receive the highest level of emergency services
