— September 5, 2026 — Late Saturday night, firefighters arrived at Log Cabin Court Mobile Home Park in response to a reported gas smell and eventually pinpointed the origin to a nearby farm where multiple propane tanks were leaking.
The units were sent out just before 11:30 p.m. following reports from residents about an outside gas smell. Firefighters started checking combustible gas levels across the mobile home park and noted inconsistent high readings. Crews also detected what sounded like a high-pressure hissing noise originating from nearby fields.
Firefighters followed the sound to a farm, where they discovered a propane leak and a visible vapor cloud emanating from a cluster of tanks at the back of the property. One tank was overturned, and three others standing upright also needed firefighters to close their valves.
Two vapor-suppression lines were put into place as crews met with the property owner. The command called for more tanker resources as firefighters continued efforts to manage the hazard.
A crew, positioned behind a protective handline, entered the area to secure the three upright tanks and evaluate the overturned one. Later, firefighters re-entered the area with handlines for protection and managed to move the overturned tank far enough to access its valve and shut down the last tank.
