Exeter TWP, PA - Firefighters from the Exeter Township Volunteer Fire Department carried out a technical extrication Monday morning, safely removing an individual trapped inside a stalled elevator at the Berkshire Center commercial complex.

On the morning of September 7, 2026, emergency dispatchers alerted Exeter Township personnel to an elevator entrapment at the property. Engine-Tanker 25 and Tower 25 mobilized to the scene to conduct the rescue operation.

Upon arrival, crews located the stalled car, established verbal communication with the trapped occupant, and initiated standard elevator rescue procedures. Firefighters utilized specialized drop keys and mechanical tools to secure the elevator doors and stabilize the hoistway mechanisms, safely assisting the sole occupant out of the cab.

The individual was evaluated on scene and reported no injuries. After isolating power to the elevator bank and placing the unit out of service pending technician repairs, Exeter crews cleared the facility.
