New York Enacts 14-Day Burn Ban to Reduce Wildfire Risk

Albany, N.Y. — October 2 — Due to increased fire risks brought on by persistently dry conditions, Governor Kathy Hochul and the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) announced a statewide burn ban that will go into effect today. The prohibition will be reviewed prior to its expiration and will be in force until October 15, 2025.
