DANBURY, Conn., Sept. 30, 2025 — A summer of reading turned into an unforgettable morning for Jacob, a student at Hayestown School, who won the Danbury Library’s Summer Book Reading Contest. His prize: a special ride to school aboard Fire Engine 23 from the Danbury Fire Department.
On Tuesday, Jacob arrived at Hayestown School in style, greeted by hundreds of cheering classmates, teachers, and family members who lined up to celebrate his accomplishment.
The event was made possible by the City of Danbury and the Danbury Professional Fire Fighters, Local 801, IAFF, who partnered to support the library’s summer reading initiative and highlight the importance of literacy in the community.
The Danbury Fire Department said it was proud to recognize Jacob’s achievement and help encourage other students to keep reading.
