Bus accident on 81 causes MCI

Short after 1430 hours a mass casualty box was transmitted for a bus accident at mile marker 112 south bound.

Units arrived and found a bus off the road into the tree line with several still on board. Crews made access and helped most of the victims off.

Command said 32 people were roughly transported to hospitals. One firefighter was also taken for treatment form the scene.

The bus was carrying ins members from LCBC church group on their way back from a fall retreat in New York.

Roughly 100 firefighters and EMTs were on scene throughout the incident.

After roughly 8 hours the bus was removed from the woods and the road fully reopened

EMS services from Northumberland, Dauphin, Schuylkill and Lebanon responded to the scene along with 3 medical helicopters to transport all the injured.

Pennsylvania State police update the next day stated that most of the injured were discharged from the hospital after treatment with only 10 remaining for extra care due to injuries.
