Squad 1272 Handles Difficult Vehicle Extrication in Wooded Area

Dorothy, N.J. — September 10, 2026 — Fire and EMS units arrived at a motor vehicle collision involving reported entrapment at the intersection of 11th Avenue and Cape May Avenue in Dorothy around 8:49 p.m. on September 10
Dorothy Volunteer Fire Company Station 12-7 and BLS 12-7 responded to the crash. The first-responding 12-700 crew discovered a passenger trapped inside a vehicle that had rolled over 100 feet into a wooded area.
Squad 1272 members used a chainsaw to cut down trees and reach the vehicle. The firefighters then employed battery-operated rescue equipment, such as a spreader and cutter, to extricate the trapped patient.
After removing the patient, firefighters stayed at the scene to address hazards, manage traffic, and aid in clearing vehicles. According to the Dorothy Volunteer Fire Company, three patients were taken to nearby hospitals for assessment and care.
Hamilton Township EMS and Buena Vista Township EMS provided support to Dorothy crews during the response. Dorothy's official history describes the company as a fire and EMS service operating in Weymouth Township and nearby areas, equipped with rescue tools such as a Jaws of Life and portable rams.
