Beaver Falls, PA - Firefighters from Rochester and neighboring Beaver Falls mounted an aggressive exterior suppression effort early Sunday morning, saving an occupied home from a massive detached garage fire.
Shortly after 6:00 a.m. on September 27, 2026, the Rochester Fire Department and Beaver Falls Fire Department were dispatched to a reported structure fire. Chief Mamone of Rochester arrived first on scene to encounter a heavy volume of fire roaring from a two-stall detached garage, with radiant heat and advancing flames directly impinging on an adjacent, occupied single-family home.
Beaver Falls Engine 11 arrived as the second-due engine company with a five-person crew and immediately mobilized to assist in fireground operations. Personnel pulled and stretched a high-volume 2 1/2-inch attack handline from Rochester Engine 23, coordinating a hard blitz on the main body of fire while establishing a defensive water curtain between the burning garage and the residence.
The intense push halted the progression of flames before they could ignite the living quarters, limiting the dwelling's exposure damage strictly to radiant heat. Crews brought the fire under control and performed extensive mop-up and wetting operations, operating on scene for roughly an hour and a half before being released from command. No injuries were reported.
