Wayne Firefighters Responded to Reported Gas Emergency

Wayne, NJ — September 18 — Members of Community Volunteer Fire Company #1, Inc., located at 93-97 Parish Dr., Wayne, responded along with Packanack Lake Fire Company #5 to a reported gas or utility-related emergency on Overlook Avenue in Wayne Township.


The two companies were sent to check out the reported utility emergency and assess the situation at the location.

Firefighters responding to the call were ready to spot any possible dangers, ensure the safety of people in the area, and work with the relevant utility company if needed.


Wayne Township's fire protection is managed by five volunteer fire companies, including Community Fire Co.

#1 and Packanack Lake Fire Co.#5.The township explained that these companies maintain their own tools and base of operations while being part of the municipal fire protection system.


Wayne Township Additionally, the township provided financial support for equipment and annual inspections of fire service tools, such as SCBA gear, hoses, ladders, and pumps.

New recruits received training through their respective companies and the Passaic County Fire Academy to earn New Jersey Firefighter I certification.Wayne Township 


Wayne's Office of Emergency Management collaborates with local, county, and state agencies during bigger emergencies and helps organize operations when more resources are needed.

The response on Overlook Avenue gave the two volunteer companies another chance to work together while looking into a reported utility issue and staying prepared for any changes in the situation.
