Quick response by East Litchfield Fire prevents further hazard

East Litchfield, Conn. — September 25 — Engines 26 and 24 of the East Litchfield Fire Company responded to a smoke report in a building on Thomaston Road Thursday evening. After investigating upon arrival, firefighters concluded that burnt food was the cause of the smoke. After using a ventilation fan to remove the smoke from the house, crews monitored the atmosphere to make sure there were no additional dangers. Units returned to service without incident after the situation was swiftly brought under control.
