Bethlehem, C.T. — September 29 — In order to support fire operations in Torrington, the Bethlehem Volunteer Fire Department mobilized Engine 1 Monday morning, setting it up for drafting and water supply duties. The goal of the assignment was to alleviate any possible stress on the city's fire hydrant system throughout the event. The Bethlehem crew stayed on standby as a precaution, even though the municipal water system was able to meet demand due to the favorable conditions, which reduced the need for alternative sources.
