Shirley NY- on Sat Sept 26 2020 at about 5:10 PM the Suffolk County police 7th precinct and Mastic Ambulance were dispatched to William Floyd Parkway and Stuart Rd for a vehicle crash. Mastic ambulance company under the command of Chief Maria arrived on scene to find a 2-vehicle crash with all occupants out of the vehicles. There was a fluid spill in the William Floyd Parkway so Mastic Fire Department was requested for cleanup.
Mastic FD 2nd Lieutenant Rudy Sunderman arrived to find the vehicles were moved off to the side road and the police sector car was blocking the right lane going North on William floyd to prevent vehicles from driving through the small fluid spill and debris. Lt Sunderman instructed the crew from engine 5-12-2 to bring their crew up once on scene with brooms, shovels and speedy dry to clean up the fluids and car parts. He instructed Fire police 80 to take a position behind the sector car and provide traffic control while the crew from Engine 2 as well as engine 3’s crew made quick work to clean up the scene.
At least 1 person was treated and taken to a local hospital with minor injuries. All units were back in service by 5:45 PM.
