Pittsburgh, PA - An early-morning emergency call for a reported kitchen appliance fire escalated into a working structural fire Monday, bringing mutual aid engine companies to battle heavy flames inside a Millvale residence.

On the morning of September 28, 2026, emergency dispatchers struck Box 191-001 for a reported oven fire inside a single-family dwelling in Millvale Borough. Engine 247 of the Berkeley Hills Fire Company (Ross Township) responded on the assignment, arriving simultaneously with the first-due local engine to find active fire showing from the structure.

Taking immediate tactical action, the crew of Engine 247 acquired the initial attack hoseline, forced entry into the residence, and initiated an aggressive interior assault. Operating through dense smoke and high heat, firefighters quickly knocked down the bulk of the heavy fire consuming the first floor, preventing vertical fire extension from overtaking the remainder of the home.

Working alongside mutual aid companies, personnel conducted extensive searches, opened walls and ceilings to check for concealed fire spread, and completed tactical ventilation. The North Hills engine company maintained operations on scene for approximately three hours conducting overhaul and securing hazards before returning to service.
