Squad 45 Makes Quick Knockdown on I-78 Vehicle Fire

Clinton, N.J. — September 6 — On Sunday evening, firefighters responded to a motor vehicle crash on westbound Interstate 78, where injuries were reported and a vehicle was on fire. 


The Fire Department from the Town of Clinton and the Pattenburg Fire Department responded to the incident. The first fire unit on the scene was Squad 45 from Clinton, which deployed a handline and managed to extinguish most of the blaze. Pattenburg Engine 25 then extended a second hose line to help with fire suppression. 


Fire crews stayed at the scene for under an hour before reopening the highway. The original department report classified the incident as a motor vehicle accident involving reported injuries and fire, but it did not include further details regarding the condition of those affected.
