Westport, Conn. — September 14 — During the Slice of Saugatuck festival, the Town of Westport Fire Department, in collaboration with the Westport Firefighters Charitable Foundation, held its yearly Open House, which featured family-friendly activities and interactive fire safety education. Families explored interactive fire safety displays, got to know Smokey Bear, and bought T-shirts to support Casting for Recovery. Supported by CT DEEP, the Staples Service League of Boys, and the Westport-Weston Chamber of Commerce, the event also included the Fairfield Fire Department's smoke trailer, which assisted in educating locals about safe evacuation and fire behavior.
