Effingham, N.H. — September 1 — Right at midnight, Effingham Fire/Rescue responded as part of a first-alarm forestry assignment to assist Wakefield Fire/Rescue with suppression and overhaul at a wildfire incident.
Effingham deployed Forestry 1, Forestry 2, Engine 3, and Car 1 with a crew of five. Chief Harmon served as the staging and accountability officer during the operation. Crews worked through the early morning hours and returned to service just after 4 a.m.
Officials said the fire, which burned approximately 2–3 acres, was apparently started by fireworks. The incident highlights ongoing wildfire risks during dry conditions and the importance of mutual aid coordination for effective response.
