Aurora, ME - The Aurora Volunteer Fire Department responded to a vehicle fire Sunday evening in the woods off Route 179 in Aurora. Firefighters deployed a large amount of forestry hose to reach both the vehicle and the surrounding fire in the woods.

The vehicle’s owner had attempted to extinguish the flames by carrying in containers of water, but the fire proved too large to manage alone. The Osborn Volunteer Fire Department provided additional water support, while Ranger Nick Bolduc assisted with controlling the fire in the woods, operating the nozzle for much of the response.

Officials noted that conditions remain very dry and continue to worsen, urging the public to exercise extreme caution with fire.
