Aggressive Interior Push Halts Rapid Attic Extension in Willingboro Structure Fire

Willingboro, NJ - Firefighters from the Willingboro Fire Department alongside surrounding mutual aid agencies halted a threatening residential fire Tuesday afternoon that heavily consumed two vehicles and rapidly spread into a home's structural framing.

At approximately 2:16 p.m. on September 22, 2026, Willingboro Fire Department’s B Shift was dispatched with regional mutual aid units to reports of an active structure fire. First-arriving companies were met with intense fire blowing out from an attached garage, where two parked vehicles were completely engulfed in flames.

High ambient heat and burning vehicle fuel propelled fire through the overhead ceiling and straight into the attic space above the living quarters, prompting command to sound a second alarm for additional personnel and water resources.

Engine crews rapidly stretched multiple 1 3/4-inch attack lines, mounting an aggressive two-front assault to extinguish the primary vehicle fires in the garage while advancing interior handlines into the dwelling to intercept and douse extension through the attic rafters.

Coordinated vertical ventilation relieved intense smoke and heat buildup, enabling interior crews to place the blaze under control before it could consume the main living areas of the house. No civilian or responder injuries were reported.
