Glen Rock Crews Assisted at Hawthorne Working Fire

Glen Rock, N.J. — September 1 — The Glen Rock Volunteer Fire Department responded to a working-fire incident in the Borough of Hawthorne, offering mutual aid during a lengthy fireground operation.

Glen Rock Car 1 and Engine 2 were sent to help Hawthorne firefighters at the scene. Upon arrival, the crews were assigned to various tasks and worked together with firefighters from Hawthorne and other responding departments.

The Glen Rock firefighters stayed at the scene for about five hours before finishing their duties and returning to their borough.

Mutual aid enables neighboring fire departments to provide extra personnel and equipment when an incident needs more resources than are available locally. These responses also allow firefighters to gain experience working with companies from other areas and operating under a unified command structure.
