Bogota Crew Provided Mutual Aid at Ridgefield Park Fire

Bogota, N.J. — September 5 — The Bogota Fire Department provided assistance overnight through mutual aid to the Village of Ridgefield Park for a third-alarm fire in a multi-unit building. Ladder 1 was dispatched to the scene and remained there for approximately two hours before returning to Bogota.

The fire was first reported around 4:20 a.m. at a multi-unit building located on Brinkerhoff Street. Ridgefield Park firefighters encountered significant fire conditions inside the structure and smoke spreading through common areas. The incident was upgraded to a third alarm as crews worked to evacuate residents and perform search operations.

Firefighters extended multiple hose lines into the building and worked across several floors.

Additional fire companies from other departments provided support with tasks such as fire suppression, search operations, ventilation, and other necessary activities throughout the response.Two civilians were reported injured and were taken to a local hospital for medical evaluation.The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

The Bogota Fire Department's involvement was part of its continuous mutual aid efforts across Bergen County. The Bogota Volunteer Fire Department operates as a fully volunteer organization and has served the community since 1901. Ladder Company 1 was one of the active departments within the fire department in 2026.

After finishing its assigned tasks, Ladder 1 returned to Bogota and resumed normal operations.
