Firefighters Respond to Smoking E-Bike Near Senior Center

Bristol, CT - On 9th September in the afternoon, a group of children were riding e-bikes in the vicinity of the Senior Center when one of the bikes began to emit smoke. The riders immediately called 911 to report the incident.
Engine 3, Fire 2, and the department’s Safety Officer were dispatched to the scene. Upon arrival, Engine 3 crews acted quickly to extinguish the small fire before it could spread further. The Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) was notified and responded to advise on the safe handling and disposal of the damaged lithium-ion batteries.
Thanks to the prompt response, the situation was contained without injuries or additional hazards.
