Second Alarm Fire at “Hudson Baylor”

Today at approximately 1:19 PM, the City of Beacon Fire Department was dispatched to the Republic Services facility, known locally as Hudson Baylor, located at 508 Fishkill Avenue.


Upon arrival, firefighters observed heavy black smoke coming from the building. A second alarm was transmitted, bringing additional mutual aid resources to the scene.


Fire departments from Castle Point, Village of Fishkill, City of Newburgh, and Rombout operated alongside Beacon firefighters. Additional support was provided by Beacon Volunteer Ambulance, City of Beacon Medic 1, and the City of Beacon Police Department.


Two firefighters were evaluated at the scene for minor concerns and released without further medical treatment. The fire was brought under control after an extensive coordinated effort. The cause of the fire has been determined to be accidental.
