Orange, MA - Local crews responded to several incidents, including wires down on East River Street, a small tree that had fallen onto a vacant house on Pleasant Street, and a report of an unknown type of explosion on East River, which was not substantiated.
The most serious call occurred on Tully Road, where a fence post at a vacant property, believed to have been struck by lightning, caught fire. Several members who were nearby at the Tully Community Center preparing for the annual Retirees Steak Feed quickly responded. They were able to extinguish the fire using a local water source before the arrival of the engine. No further property damage was reported.
Elsewhere, the county experienced higher call volumes throughout the storm, and recognition is due to Shelburne Control for their effective coordination and management during the busy period.
